N97 update: Memory Reorganiser 1.0

December 20th, 2009

Theres a new software update for N97 – Memory Reorganiser 1.0. Download it from Menu -> Applications -> Software Update. You need to run Memory reorganiser from Applications. It will auto remove itself after the first run.

I havent noticed any major improvement. To be fair to nokia, i dont run too many apps at one time. Guess others will notice the change. Let us know how you feel about the new update.

One of our twitter friends @netcitizen “Got 10 mb of C drive using the reorganizer” .. which is real good.

Just a short note to let everyone know that the next n97 firmware update will be in mid december. Got this from a Nokia employee with userid xbungle @ nokia support forum.

Dear updaters

Here’s the latest update on the N97 2.0 software status.

Using your PC to update
We have created new support content to help you have the smoothest update experience, and to help you get the most out of your device. See the Nokia N97 support pages for more details.

Software availability
We published an additional 60 variants this week.

Software roadmap
I can now confirm that the next release for the Nokia N97 is planned for mid-late December 2009. At this stage I cannot tell you exactly when it will be available, what it will contain, or which variants and operators will approve it.

Regards
xbungle

Most people i know are pretty happy with the last update even though there have been some issues. The new update would most probably fix all those bugs, not expecting anything major.

N97 Mini: Launch date and price in India

N97 Mini: Launch date and price in India

Our local Nokia Priority guy told me that the n97 mini will be available from 20th november and that its gonna cost INR 22,000. (US $480)

This is a pleasant surprise since most sites said the price will be in the range of INR 30K-31K.(US $680)

20th is just a day away. So lets wait and see. I think its gonna be 30K-31K as well, but this is his job; so he must be knowing better.

Note: [12th Dec] We guessed it rite! Nokia today announced that the MRP for N97 mini would be RS 24,999. =)

N97 Mini: How different is it from N97?

November 17th, 2009

Its smaller, compact and as Nokia puts it “more fashion conscious”. It weights 138gm, 12 less than that of N97. Its got 8GB mass memory – N97 has 32GB. Mini dimensions: 113 x 52.5 x 14.2 mm, 75 cc – N97 dimensions : 117.2 x 55.3 x 15.9 mm, 88 cc. N97 mini uses 1200 mAh (BL-4D) battery while n97 has 1500 mAh (BP-4L).

Its got a metallic back cover (which i like) and theres no lens cover. Also, the d-pad navigation area is missing. It comes with n97’s recently updated v2.0 firmware.

N97 Mini Gallery

Everything else is exactly like that of its big brother. 5 megapixel camera, home screen widgets, built in GPS and the usual stuff.

Nokia says they have made the mini from the feedback that received from n97 users. It looks good, feels good .. i think we gonna have a new set of happy n97 mini users. How do you see the n97 mini?
